Make a change- be a volunteer!

We make living by what we get but we make a life by what we give – Winston Churchill

In spite of all what we get – money, success, position etc. every human being looks for fulfilment and happiness. Helping others kindles happiness, and research has shown that people who volunteer are happier and more content.

In Secure, people have always volunteered, for Mast events, Founder’s Day or SEMS Day. Helping each other in personal life is also in our nature.

It is an advantage that our company’s CSR activities invites people participation at all times. Giving us this opportunity at work itself is a huge privilege for all of us. It’s a matter of immense pleasure to be part of something which we always wanted to do but never thought how to go about it.

With the start of the Navodaya Project in Gurgaon last year, we chose to be part of the Reading Club. To interact with kids and know about their curiosity was so much fun and a very enriching experience. Each visit to the school that we thought was to make kids learn something and kindle their curiosity was actually learning experience for us. They used to warmly welcome us, get so excited in every session and participate with so much enthusiasm. This experience teaches us new things and helps better understand the young minds and to inculcate in them the values which will help them as they grow up and face new challenges.

Volunteering connects us to others, brings fun and fulfillment to our life, provides a sense of purpose, increases self-confidence, gives us the opportunity to practice important skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and above all a change we can all together and succeed at.

To get the most out of these activities we  must be clear in our mind about what is expected of this programme and to ask questions wherever required.

The best volunteer experiences benefit both the volunteers and the organisation.
